City and Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Bricklaying (7905)

This course is aimed at school leavers and those wishing to have a career in the construction industry as a bricklayer. Course Duration  -    One year.

Course Content/Units
Anybody interested in the level 2 Technical Certificate in bricklaying will study theoretical aspects of the trade and apply them to practical tasks. A wide range of practical jobs to build, and perfect your practical skills. Compulsory topics include:

· The principles of construction

· Building cavity walls

· Constructing basic arches

· Setting out buildings

Entry Requirement

· One  externally set, externally moderated assignment. (Practical)

· One externally set, externally marked exam, set under examination conditions (Theory)

· Employer engagement

Progression
On successful completion of this course-
Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Bricklaying

Additional Information
Information regarding specific equipment required, days of attendance and enrolment date will be given at interview and advice and guidance sessions.

Practical Training Assessments run throughout the course, then a timed synoptic practical assessment on set dates along with a online exam. Employer engagement is necessary to achieve the qualification.

Future Applications

Apprentice bricklayer, bricklayer, Site foreman, Site manager, contracts manager. Working for a house building company, a property development company or as part of a small business repairing and refurbishing buildings.

Many students will be able to progress into employment as a bricklayer, onto an apprenticeship, or further their studies by taking other qualifications at level 3
