Lessons in law at Springwood

Budding legal eagles at a Springwood High School got a taste of the world of law when they took part in a one-day workshop led by lawyers and magistrates.

Sixty students from Years 7 to 13 at our school were chosen to participate in Law Careers Day, which was run in association with nplaw, a Norfolk-based public sector legal service whose clients include Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council, and Broadland District Council.

During the event, the group worked on mock legal cases, with the support and guidance of lawyers and magistrates. They also learnt about careers in the field of law and the different possible routes into them.

It was the second time the workshop had taken place at Springwood, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust.

“Events like this are fundamental to what we are trying to achieve in the sixth form,” said Luke Rawling, Head of Year 13 at our school and organiser of the event.

“We believe in developing a vision of a chosen career for each student and equipping them with the knowledge of how to best achieve that vision.”
