VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Ladies Hairdressing (Technical )
This course is aimed at school leavers and those wishing to have a career in the Hair dressing industry. Course Duration - One year.
Course Content/Units
Health and Safety, Working in the hairdressing industry, Client care and communication, Consultation, Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp, The art of dressing hair, Cutting women’s hair , Colour and lighten hair.
Practical work takes place in Creations Hair and Beauty Salon, a purpose built professional salon, providing a realistic working environment where treatments are performed on paying clients.
Guest lecturers from product companies, trips to professional trade exhibitions and competitions complement studies.
All students will need a salon placement throughout the duration of the course
Entry Requirement
GCSEs at grade 4 including English Lang & Maths is preferred.
Good communication skills are needed with an interest in hair, beauty, fashion and care with appearance.
Level 2 Certificate in creative hair and beauty Studies/level 1 diploma in hair and beauty an advantage.
Assessment
Students will be required to carry out practical assessments ongoing throughout the course along with a final assessment for practical.
Theory is delivered and a paper exam

Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing
Level 3 Diploma in Media Make-up
Additional Information
Information regarding specific equipment and materials required, days of attendance and enrolment date will be given at interview and advice and guidance sessions.
Practical Assessments run throughout the course along with a written exam and a final practical end assessment
Future Applications
Hairdresser, beauty therapist, spa therapist, colour technician, nail technician, make-up artist in film and television, barber.

Many students have left study at Springwood hair and beauty and are now working in salons as qualified beauticians and hairdressers.
