16-19 Bursary and Travel Grants
If you think that financial difficulty might prevent your child from participating in, or even continuing, their course, our school might be able to help you through the 16-19 Bursary. The bursary is designed to help and support any student who faces financial barriers to participation in their education. These may include the cost of transport, food or equipment.
There are three elements to this fund.
The Vulnerable Bursary Fund is aimed at students who are most in need. The Vulnerable Bursary Fund is aimed at students who are most in need. To be eligible for the Vulnerable Bursary a student must be in care; a care leaver; in receipt of income support; or a disabled young person receiving Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.
The Discretionary Bursary is available to students who are not eligible for the Vulnerable Bursary and who live in a household with a low family income. Springwood High School welcomes applications from all students facing genuine financial difficulties. Priority will be given to applicants where "equivalised" household income is below £25,000. In order to calculate this, we will take into account both household incomes and the number of people resident in that household.
Application Forms are available to download here.
Finally, students are able to apply for a Travel Grant if they live more than 12 miles from school, regardless of financial circumstances. Further information regarding travel can be found here.
