Pathways Evening - 7th July 2016
On Thursday 7th July 2016 Springwood Sixth Form was delighted to host our annual Pathways Evening.
Over 300 students and parents from year 10 from Springwood and other local high schools were welcomed by Mr Johnson and then heard a talk from Mr Pettitt (Director of Sixth Form) and Mrs Cuss (Assistant Director of Sixth Form) about pathways after high school. The students were advised to aspire highly and to gain the experience needed for their dream futures.
Mrs Cuss explained the key objective of the evening 'it is all about the students being able to leave school with as many choices as possible. Some may want to pursue higher level apprenticeships and some may aspire to the best universities. What ever their ambition is, having the option to choose their path, rather than having options closed off to them, is very important.'
Students and parents then visited a Pathways Fair where 25 local employers, universities and previous students from Springwood advised the Year 10s and helped them to understand how to reach their ambitions.
Many thanks to Mrs Williams, Mrs Franklin and Miss Proctor for their studious administration and organisation of the event.
